PURPOSE OF PROJECT: Turner syndrome is a chromosomal condition that affects development in females. The purpose of this project was to gain knowledge about a genetic disease and research how it is inherited, Is it dominant, recessive, sex-linked or unknown, if the disease is a chromosome abnormality, how prevalent is the disease in the global population, how the disease is diagnosed, symptoms of the disease, life expectancy, treatment, what are some new treatments or research that is going on for the disease, what limitations does the person have, what are some organizations that can help a family cope with a child's disorder, and how is the disease linked with the concept of evolution.

WHAT I LEARNED: I learned a ton from this project. I learned that DNA has a general structure and function and a role in heredity and protein synthesis and when it gets messed up, the consequences can be huge. I learned that some traits can be inherited while others are due to the interaction of genes and the environment, Turner Syndrome is one of the diseases that is not inherited. I gained background for this project in class and I learned about genetic inheritance.

HOW THIS RELATES TO MY LIFE: This project was really interesting to me because Turner Syndrome can happen to anyone. I was surprised by the many facts I found out about it. This project is relevant to my life because now that I know what it is, I can recognize it in other people.

IMPROVEMENTS: If I was given more time to improve this project I would. I would add more pictures and give more information on more recent studies. Overall I felt like the work I produce was very beneficial but is was not as visibly pleasing as I would have liked.
